Have a listen to Melissa Forbes, a soul 'n' jazz bella from Brisbane who has been the reigning queen among Australian artists at www.download.com for weeks. Forbes used to be a lawyer but hated it. "Every week was pure fear and loathing," she says in an interview posted at her website (www.melissaforbes.com). So she chucked it in for her secret love, signing up for jazz vocals studies at the Queensland Conservatorium. Her debut album is appropriately entitled No More Mondays. The album has got some of her own melodic magic but she also covers artists as diverse as D'Angelo, Michael Jackson and Metallica. (Source: www.theage.com.au, www.smh.com.au)
